About Me
Jordan Darling is a city reporter for Southern California News Group based in the Inland Empire where she started in October 2022. She currently covers city government, education, and community development. She was the editor of the Log newspaper, California's Boating and Fishing News based in Newport Beach. She started her role in January 2021. She also ran the company's magazine and podcast. Darling was previously a digital media journalist with Cypher Core, a cryptocurrency company based in California. She wrote a monthly series updating the community about a technology and upcoming projects. She is a graduate from California State University, Dominguez Hills where she received a Bachelor's in journalism. During her time at CSUDH, she served as news editor and editor-in-chief of the student-run paper the Bulletin. In February of 2020, she began an internship with Random Lengths News and wrote a series of articles about COVID-19 and local politics. She was the 2020 recipient of Best Newspaper Column from the California College Media Association for a series of articles she wrote on religious tolerance. She also received a leadership award from the Communications Department at CSUDH for her time as an editor. In 2021 Darling received another award from CCMA and three awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Darling's current focus in on education particularly centered on the culture wars taking place in local school boards.
