"Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain disease and the most common form of dementia. Dementia is not a specific disease. It's an overall term that describes a group of symptoms." Alzheimer's Association

Alzheimer's affects 50 million people worldwide and cases have jumped 146 percent between 2000 and 2018. There is currently no cure for Alzheimer's and those who are diagnosed live between four to eight years after the diagnosis.

For my senior project, I wanted to cover the effects that Alzheimer's has on those who are diagnosed with Alzheimer's or Dementia, their loved ones, and their caretakers. In the links above you will find a personal narrative about my family's journey with the disease, a podcast with a caretaker, and a video exploring the transition of a child turned caretaker.
